Frenkie de Jong will not be part of Barcelona‘s pre-season tour of the United States.
Hansi Flick’s Barcelona will not take Frenkie de Jong on their preseason tour of the United States to allow the Dutch midfielder to recover from a right ankle injury and it is unclear whether he will be available for Saturday’s season opener against Valencia.
Hansi Flick’s backroom staff have reportedly decided to allow Frenkie to continue his rehabilitation at Barcelona, with the Dutch midfielder not travelling to the United States for training camp and pre-season games, along with Ronald Araujo, Pablo Martín Paez Gavira Gavi, Pedro González Lopez Pedri and Ansu Fati.
Barcelona are taking precautions with Frenkie’s recovery, with it still unclear whether he will be available for the new season’s opener at Valencia on Saturday, August 17. If the recovery does not improve, the club could decide to send the 27-year-old midfielder on the sidelines for surgery, which could put him on the sidelines for at least four months.
Koeman claimed de Jong has informed him there is no suggestion over when he can return to first team action with surgery an option for the former Ajax schemer.
As per the latest update from UFABET, de Jong has now been advise by the Barcelona medical staff to miss the trip across the Atlantic, to continue his rehabilitation in Catalonia.
De Jong’s fitness is another concern ahead of the 2024/25 campaign with striker Ansu Fati expect to miss the start start due to a foot problem.
