Arsenal told striker from major Premier League rivals would ‘transform’ their attack

Arsenal must sign a new striker if they are to win major trophies and should target a surprise star from Premier League rivals Liverpool .

That is the opinion of former Reds แทงบอล UFABET ราคาดีที่สุด ไม่มีขั้นต่ำ midfielder Dietmar Hamann, with the Gunners tipped to buy a new forward this January transfer window in order to rescue their season.

Though Arsenal are second in the table, they have dropped crucial points on numerous occasions, allowing Liverpool to extend their lead to six points with a game in hand.

And while Mikel Arteta’s side have done well in the Champions League, they have knocke out of the FA Cup and are 2-0 down in their Carabao Cup semi-final tie against Newcastle.

Though they’ve had little issue creating chances, a lack of clincalness in front of goal has cost them, with Kai Havertz being their top scorer in the league with just eight goals.

Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Jhon Duran are among the names linked with the Emirates but Hamann believes a certain Anfield striker could be exactly what Arteta needs.

‘I can’t see Arsenal winning anything without a centre forward,’ the Champions League winner told

‘You could maybe win a cup with a bit of luck and you can win the Champions League without being the best team, but in the Premier League you need to be the best and without a centre-forward there are few teams in history to have won that way.

‘You can look at Pep Guardiola’s teams who had the best wingers in the world or teams with the likes of Neymar or Lionel Messi, but Arsenal need a presence.

‘Arsenal would be a transformed team with Darwin Nunez up front. Someone with that physical presence who can stretch teams and create space.

‘Imagine the damage that Bukayo Saka or Gabriel Martinelli could do if Nunez was stretching teams with his pace and occupying defenders. It would change the whole dynamic of the team.

‘Kai Havertz might go in behind but in one or two steps he’s already caught by the defenders, Arsenal need a quick centre forward to give them another option. I think their struggles going forward are down to a lack of physical presence.’

Nunez is certainly a surprising pick as while he is a menacing presence for defenders, he has become notorious for missing plenty of easy chances since his £85million move to Liverpool in 2022.

So far this season, the Uruguayan has scored just six goals, two of which came in injury time in Liverpool’s last league game as they beat Brentford – shortly before Arsenal blew a two goal lead to draw with Aston Villa.

In spite of his recent heroics, Hamann admits Nunez hasn’t lived up to expectations at Anfield, adding: ‘When you look at Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen, they were both natural finishers, Nunez is clearly not.

‘You can improve your finishing but not to the level of someone like Fowler or Owen who could sniff out a chance and you just knew they were going to score.
